The effectiveness of different irrigation strategies with laser activation on the bond strength of MTA as root end filling material: in vitro study

Abstract Objective To compare the push out bond strength of MTA apical plug in a simulated immature root, after using different irrigation protocols; NaOCl + 20% Etidronic acid (HEBP) and 17% Ethylenediaminetetraacetic (EDTA) with without diode laser activation. Methods Twenty-eight extracted single straight rooted permanent human teeth were selected. The root lengths standardized (15 mm) by decronation all samples. Instrumentation was done ProTaper Next system (Dentsply Sirona), canals flushed 1 mL NaOCL each instrument. Then, 3 mm cut perpendicular to root’s long axis prepared till file 90( master file) balanced force technique simulate teeth. Samples divided into four experimental groups ( n = 7) accordance protocol; G1 (NaOCl HEBP), G2 EDTA) both activated laser, while G3 HEBP) G4 manual agitation. Canals filled 5-mm (ProRoot MTA, Dentsply Tulsa Dental) plug. Each transversely sectioned their have ± 0.1sections thickness from portion. A push-out test performed, failure pattern assessed. Push values analyzed student t for compared pairs. Two-way ANOVA used detect effect variable (chelating agent with/without activation). Result Effect activation showed no significant differences p > 0.05) on (G3 G4), there statistically difference < where recorded higher mean than G3. Conclusions when HEBP increased as chelating improved rendering it an alternative mild comparison EDTA.
